Stems & the DJ booth
Every song is built from stems: independent layers that play together. The chip rail on the left of the song screen is your DJ booth, and it works in every play mode. Top to bottom the chips are HOOK (only in genres that use one), TOP (the topline melody), CHORDS, BASS, DRUMS and PAD (the background drone). On phones in portrait the rail folds behind a STEMS tab.
Some songs arrive without a stem on purpose; sparse genres occasionally generate drum-less or bass-less takes. Those chips show hollow with a plus, and tapping or dicing them brings that part into the song.
Three controls per chip
- Tap the chip: mute or unmute that stem. Any combination works, and your mutes ride the share code.
- The dice by a chip rerolls just that part ▸ new sound, same song. Dice the drums!
- The padlock: freeze the stem. A locked stem ignores its own dice and is skipped by SHUFFLE, so the part you love stays as it is.
A silent model of the real booth. Hear it for real in the demo.
SHUFFLE
The SHUFFLE button rerolls every unlocked stem at once: one press, and the same song comes back with a fresh set of sounds. Locked stems sit it out, so a shuffle never touches the parts you have chosen to keep.
There is also AUTO SHUFFLE in Settings → GAME: off, or every 8, 16 or 32 bars. The song then evolves hands-free, which is made for RADIO mode. It respects your locks and never fires while paused.
The DJ stream
The little multi-track ribbon by the DJ is the song's actual data scrolling past a now marker: one line per layer (your ROLL notes, hook, topline, chords, bass, and the hat, snare and kick). Muting a stem dims its lines, so what you see always matches what you hear.
Controller and keyboard
- D-pad up / down: select a stem (a ring shows the selection). D-pad left: lock. D-pad right: reroll.
- Shuffle stems: left bumper. Toggle the selected stem: right bumper
- Direct toggles: keys 1 to 5 hit chips one to five; on a pad, hold the modifier (LT) plus a note lane, or use a preset's chords. See Controls.
