Controls & gamepad
Everything is remappable in Settings → Controls: every keyboard key, every controller button, plus a glyph setting for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Steam Deck or generic button labels.
Keyboard
- Note lanes 1 to 4: D F J K
- Menus: arrow keys to move, Enter to confirm, Esc to go back or pause
- Hold the song: Space stops and restarts the music without opening the pause menu. In the arcade modes, where there is nothing to hold the song against, Space pauses the whole run.
- Pause menu: P. Shuffle stems: R. Mute a stem: 1 to 5. Editor menu: E.
- Fullscreen on desktop: F in the menu, or F11
Calibration (Settings → CONTROLS → CALIBRATE)
If your taps feel right but land late, something between the game and your senses is adding delay. Calibration measures it in three short steps and can tell the two causes apart:
- SOUND: clicks only, nothing to watch. Look away and tap along. This catches audio delay, and Bluetooth headphones are the usual culprit at over 100ms.
- SIGHT: silent falling notes. Tap the moment a note touches the line. This catches display delay, which TVs and some phones add.
- PLAY: notes and clicks together, judged live like a real song. This is the run that sets your offset, because it is measured the way you actually play.
The result screen shows the number, a plot of where each of your taps landed, and a plain sentence explaining it (for example, that your audio lags your display by 90ms). You can nudge the value a millisecond at a time, re-run just the FEEL TEST to check it (your adjustment is kept), then apply. Every step can be skipped, on a controller too, and QUICK TEST on the opening screen runs the third step alone. Delay your device reports on its own is compensated automatically; calibration measures what is left.
Touch
Tap the lanes to play notes, tap and hold for sustained notes. All menus, editors and the DJ booth are touch-first. The screen stays awake during play.
Gamepad basics
- Move focus or steer: D-pad or left stick
- Confirm: south face button. Back or close: east face button
- Pause: Menu / Options / Plus
- Note lanes 1 to 4: west, south, east, north face buttons
- Shuffle stems: left bumper. Toggle the selected stem: right bumper
- Hold modifier: left trigger
Menus keep the face buttons to themselves while open, so confirming a dialog never hits a note behind it.
In-song quick controls
- Select a stem: D-pad up / down. Lock it: D-pad left. Reroll it: D-pad right
- Toggle stems 1 to 4 directly: hold modifier + note lane
- Previous or next bar: hold modifier + D-pad left / right
- Next Radio song: hold modifier + View / Create / Minus
- Full editor menu: View / Create / Minus
Controller presets
- Face buttons: lanes on the four face buttons (default)
- Shoulder notes: lanes on LT / LB / RB / RT, face buttons stay free for menus
- Trigger + face: lanes on LT / West / East / RT
- Stick flicks: flick either stick toward a lane
- Studio chords: hold LT with face buttons for stems, LT + bumpers for undo / redo
Custom rebinds accept a single button, a stick direction, or a held chord. Presets never overwrite your keyboard bindings.
